Name

This is an older Virus that is at it again, it does not have an exact name but is very close to the major virus out there called anitvirus 2008

Infection location

Skype is the main target but other Instant messengers should also be aware

How it is Contracted

These things are really crafty and they disguise them self selfs a person that you know or should trust. The person in question will send you a Chat message which will tell you that your computer is infected. The uninformed person will get scarred and will click the link that they tell you will fix the problem. but it of course will not fix the problem.

Symptoms

It will take over skype sending that same message or a variation out to everyone on your contact list.
Uploads your contact information from skype
Opens a revolving door that allows other more harmful viruses into your system

How to correct it.

If you catch it in time a simple virus scan should clean up the mess. The longer it runs the less likely it is that it can be eradicated
it would be wise to completely uninstall skype and reinstall to make sure it is not just lying dormant

How to prevent it.

Like always use your HEAD. Never click on links in a chat message unless the person responding can verify the link is good
Always have the Windows firewall running
Have an always running scanner turned on such as avast
